The 2012 Yaris is not only the most affordable car in the new Toyota lineup, it also boasts an EPA-estimated 30 mpg city/38 highway, and plenty of room for all of your friends. But, these are just a few of the reasons sales of the liftback are up 140-percent over April of last year.
Here's the deal: the Yaris is available as a 3-door or 5-door hatch. Pricing starts at just $14,115, and the car comes standard with a 106-hp, 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that can be mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Other standard amenities include air conditioning, USB port and iPod connectivity, driver and front passenger airbags and Electric Power Steering (EPS). Think you can get five passengers in a subcompact car? Think again - the rear seats in the Yaris provides enough leg room for three passengers.
Standard equipment on the base model includes 15-inch steel weels, four-way-adjustable front seats, and a 40/60 split-folding rear seat. Upgrade to the LE for power windows, remote keyless entry, steering-wheel-mounted controls, Bluetooth/phone connectivity, and a six-speaker sound system. The very top trim level, the sporty SE, is only available on the 5-door Yaris, but adds a sport-tuned suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, performance tires, a sporty grille and foglamps, cruise control, upgraded upholstery and a leather-trimmed steering wheel.
Like every Toyota model, the Yaris comes standard with Toyota's Safety Star System - which includes Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist and Smart Stop technology. Also, complimentary Toyota Care, which covers normal service for up to two years or 25,000 miles (whichever comes first).
